The Carolina Theatre of Durham’s management is dedicated to protecting the safety and health of all staff and guests entering the building. This document includes the standard CDC guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19, as well as the steps we are taking to provide a safe and healthy environment for all staff and guests. These guidelines and actions are subject to change based upon the regulations and mandates stated by the City of Durham. All protocols, techniques, and practices are based on recommendations from; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) and Global Plasma Solutions (GPS).

GPS Air Purification System
The Carolina Theatre has installed Global Plasma Solutions® (GPS) patented Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization technology (NBPI)™ to purify indoor air quality in all public spaces. For more information on how the GPS air purification system works, please click here.

The Carolina Theatre has contactless ticketing and payment options, as well as many no-touch facilities upgrades including restroom fixtures, door handling, towel dispensers, and more.

We have added over a dozen hand sanitizer stations and antibacterial wipe dispensers for staff and guest use in all public spaces. Hand washing reminders are in every bathroom and plexiglass coverings are in place at all concession stands.

Mask Policy
You will see the “vax up or mask up” signs at the building entrances, which are provided by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). In accordance with the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and NCDHHS guidelines, the Carolina Theatre highly encourages all guests to wear a mask or facial covering unless actively eating or drinking, regardless of their vaccination status. Please note that the mask policy is subject to change based on certain shows, artists or promoters. Guests will be notified prior to the event. Carolina Theatre staff is encouraged to be vaccinated and will be required to wear masks.

All staff and guests who enter the Carolina Theatre of Durham must adhere to the all current CDC guidelines, NC Department of Health and Human Services and City of Durham regulations to stop the spread of COVID-19. The Carolina Theatre will keep it’s staff and guests up-to-date on all health and safety procedures.

Do not enter the building if you are sick or have been sick within the last 14 days or have been in contact with someone who is sick. Symptoms include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, body aches, new loss of taste or smell, congestion, runny nose, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.

Exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present; we cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during your time in the building. The Carolina Theatre is not responsible for any exposure that artists, guests, or staff have to COVID-19 while in the building.
