Tiny Desk Winner, Neffy, Performs in The Wavemakers Series

Series Curated by Grammy-Nominated Singer Rissi Palmer 

DURHAM, NC —December 9, 2024— Tiny Desk Contest winner, Neffy, performs at the Carolina Theatre of Durham on January 23, 2025 as part of The Wavemakers Series. The series, curated by Grammy-nominated singer Rissi Palmer, is dedicated to showcasing emerging and innovative talent and celebrates diverse voices within the Country and Americana genre. 

Neffy is an independent singer-songwriter and self-taught musician from Arlington, Virginia. Gaining her training from high school choir and musical theatre, she found her musical voice and developed her artistry while attending college in New York City. Shortly after her move, she released her first album and professionally toured along the East Coast, playing shows in New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. In 2021, she entered NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest and won with her original song, ‘Wait Up,’ an entry that rose to the top of over 6,000 contestants. She is a recipient of fellowships and residencies in London, Italy, Washington D.C., and Canada, and is currently a judge for the 2024 NPR Tiny Desk Contest. 

Palmer is passionate about amplifying underrepresented voices and has extensive experience hosting conversations with artists and providing platforms to showcase their talent. As the host of Color Me Country with Rissi Palmer on Apple Music Country, Rissi highlights artists of color and those who have been marginalized by mainstream Country. Through her Color Me Country Artist Grant Fund, she provides support to emerging artists of color who are just beginning to build their music careers. And through The Wavemakers Series at the Carolina Theatre, she continues her mission to create platforms for groundbreaking artists.
