The Monti and Carolina Theatre Present: A Century of Stories on September 17

DURHAM, N.C. — June 15, 2026 — The Monti and Carolina Theatre Present A Century of Stories from the Carolina Theatre on September 17. Tickets are now on sale at the venue’s box office and online at www.carolinatheatre.org.  

The Carolina Theatre is celebrating a century of connecting its community through culture. A never-ending parade of world-class concerts, comedy, film and educational programming has provided unforgettable fodder for cherished memories for millions of visitors. 

Everyone has a Carolina Theatre story. Local and national artists have taken their first bows on the Fletcher Hall stage. Movie lovers have formed lifelong friendships at Friday night Retro Film Series screenings. Others have found love through first dates, engagement proposals, and even wedding ceremonies hosted at the historic venue. 

Tell Your Carolina Theatre Story 

Community members are invited to submit an outline or brief description of their Carolina Theatre story to 100years@carolinatheatre.org through July 31, 2026. From first dates and family traditions to favorite films and unforgettable performances, organizers are seeking stories that reflect the theater’s impact on the lives of audience members, artists and the Durham community. 

Selected storytellers will work with The Monti’s storytelling coaches before sharing their stories live on the Barnes Stage in Fletcher Hall.
