DURHAM, NC — March 23, 2022 — The Magic of African Rhythm comes to the Carolina Theatre of Durham on April 2nd at 11 am as part of the theater’s Family Saturday Series.
Tickets to see The Magic of African Rhythm in Durham are $5 and are available at the Carolina Theatre box office, the venue’s website — carolinatheatre.org —and through ticketmaster.com.
The Magic of African Rhythm is run by Teli Shabu, a professional musician originally from Liberia, West Africa. A Forward Promise Fellow, and an alumnus of the African American Dance Ensemble, Shabu seeks to guide young people on the drummer’s path. His teachings and performances are for all ages and focus on the African concept of Ngoma, the “rhythmic thread” that links drumming, singing, dancing, and visual arts together.
Masks are recommended to be worn while inside the theater but are no longer required unless specified by a particular show.
The Carolina Theatre has implemented multiple safety measures including upgrading its air filtration systems to purify indoor air quality, adding enhanced cleaning methods and touchless payment options, and increasing the number of hand sanitizer stations around the building.
