DURHAM, NC — February 7, 2022 — On March 25-27, the Durham Savoyards will present W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance”, a musical in two acts at the Carolina Theatre of Durham.
Considered by many to be the most enjoyable of the productions written by Gilbert and Sullivan, “The Pirates of Penzance” follows Frederic, a young man who was signed on as a pirate due to an error but has faithfully served the terms of his contract until his 21st birthday.
Tickets to see The Durham Savoyards in Durham start at $26.73 and are on sale at the Carolina Theatre box office, the venue’s website — www.carolinatheatre.org — and through ticketmaster.com.
The Durham Savoyards are a homegrown theater troupe born in 1963, out of love for W. S. Gilbert’s incisive satire and Arthur Sullivan’s sparkling music. The Savoyards take their name from London’s Savoy Theatre, where many of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas were first performed.
Don’t miss your chance to see The Savoyards live at the Carolina Theatre on March 25-27.
The Carolina Theatre requires all guests to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours before entering the building. Additionally, all guests are required to wear a face mask at all times unless actively eating or drinking, regardless of vaccination status.
The theater has also implemented multiple safety measures including upgrading its air filtration systems to hospital-grade, adding enhanced cleaning methods and touchless payment options, and increasing the number of hand sanitizer stations around the building.
