The theater’s Family Saturday Series offers monthly family-friendly programming
Durham, NC September 29, 2021—The Carolina Theatre of Durham launches its Family Saturday Series starting on October 16th.
Family Saturday Series is an educational program that provides high quality, affordable arts experiences and introduces young audiences to the excitement of live performances, music, storytelling, and magic. The series offers family-friendly programming one Saturday a month.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Family Saturday Series performances occurring in the fall will offer in-person and virtual showing options. Tickets for in-person and virtual performances are $5. For in-person performances, the first 50 patrons will receive free popcorn.
This year’s Family Saturday Series offers a variety of local artists such as Casey Nees, who performs “muggle magic”, singer Kamara Thomas, whose work includes original songs and covers that explore the American West through the eyes of women and people of color, and award-winning storyteller, Donna Washington. A full list of shows can be found at carolinatheatre.org.
Starting October 4th, the Carolina Theatre will require all guests to show printed proof of a COVID-19 vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours before entering the building. Additionally, all guests are required to wear a face mask at all times unless actively eating or drinking.
In preparation of welcoming guests back to the theater, the Carolina Theatre has implemented multiple safety measures including upgrading its air filtration systems to purify indoor air quality, adding enhanced cleaning methods and touchless payment options, and increasing the number of hand sanitizer stations around the building.
