The Carolina Theatre of Durham Announces New Studio Ghibli Film Series Beginning in 2024

DURHAM, NC — November 20, 2023 — The Studio Ghibli Film Series comes to the Carolina Theatre of Durham starting in 2024. 

The series will feature fantasy films produced by Studio Ghibli, a renowned Japanese animation studio. Subtitled screenings of the films will be screened on select Wednesday nights and dubbed screenings will be held on select Saturday mornings starting in February and ending in June.  

The films in the series include “Nausicaa of The Valley of The Wind,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” “Howls Moving Castle,” “Ponyo,” and “Princess Mononoke.” 

“For decades, Studio Ghibli has created breathtakingly beautiful movies that have captivated and inspired audiences for generations through masterful storytelling and stunning visuals,” says the Carolina Theatre’s Director of Film, Jim Carl. “Join us to experience the wonder of these groundbreaking, beloved animated films.” 

The full series of Studio Ghibli films and tickets can be found at Tickets are $12 plus taxes and fees for adults, and $10 plus taxes and fees for children 12 and under. Series passes are $40 and includes both Wednesday and Saturday screenings.
