DURHAM, NC, February 17, 2025—The Carolina Theatre of Durham proudly presents the 26th annual Nevermore Film Festival, taking place in-person from February 28 to March 2 and virtually from February 28 to March 9.
Nevermore showcases a diverse selection of horror, dark fantasy, mystery, suspense, action, thriller, and science fiction films from around the world. Recognized as one of the premier genre festivals in the United States, Nevermore has earned accolades such as “Top 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals” by FilmFreeway and “One of the Best Horror Film Festivals in the World” by Dread Central.
“We pride ourselves in producing a bigger and better festival every year. Now in its 26th year, Nevermore will screen the largest number of films in its history,” says Jim Carl, Senior Director of Film at the Carolina Theatre.
This year’s festival will present 10 feature films and 67 shorts, with 54 North Carolina premieres, four U.S. premieres, and four world premieres.
Festival highlights include:
- The world premiere of the satanic-panic mystery, “Carry the Darkness.”
- The genre-bending short film, “Dog People,” starring horror icon Dee Wallace.
- The comedic sci-fi feature film, “Tim Travers and the Time Travelers Paradox,” based on the 2022 Nevermore Audience Award and Jury Award-winning short.
