Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc is a nonprofit organization committed to presenting the best in music, comedy, performing arts, independent cinema and arts education. Our mission is to serve greater Durham and the Triangle region with vibrant, thought-provoking programs of the performing and cinematic arts in our historic treasure, the Carolina Theatre. We strive to contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of downtown Durham and to delight and educate our children and future leaders.

Star Membership FAQs
Yes. However, non-Star Series Performances may not include a reduced fee for members and may not have assigned seating. Please check with the box office if you wish to find out more.
Emails announcing new shows go out on Tuesdays with most shows allowing members to purchase Wednesday or Thursday depending on your Star Membership level. The general public on sale starts on Friday. This may vary from show to show so please make sure you are signed up to receive these emails and are reading the show information. Please make sure you are signed up to receive these emails.
It is also important to know that you will NOT need a presale access code if you are a Star Member. You just need to log into your membership account.
Star Member-only seats can vary in placement from show to show. In order to access these seats, you must be logged in to your membership account here.
While we strive to make sure we have enough great options available to our Star Members, it is possible for our allotment to sell out. We always recommend purchasing your tickets as soon as you know you would like to attend to ensure the best seats possible.
If fees were not reduced on your ticket order, it could be one of two things:
- Make sure that after you add the seats to your cart, you look for the drop-down box that allows you to change from standard prices to member prices. You’ll see a change in the convenience fees.
- You may have selected Premium seats/VIP Package. Those seats are not eligible for reduced fees; therefore, you will pay full fees and will not see a drop-down box to change the price.
Yes, Star Members may return tickets for an account credit up to 72 hours before the event. Please reach out to us at efan@carolinatheatre.org for a return.
Yes. Become a SUSTAINER by dividing your Star Membership donation into 12 monthly payments to be charged to your credit card each month. Choose an amount (minimum $150/year) and we’ll do the math! Contact Cheyanne Murdock, Development Coordinator to set up your payment plan.

Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc. is a non-profit organization. Membership donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Determining tax-deductible amount of membership donation is the sole responsibility of the donor.
