DURHAM, NC —October 9, 2023— The Carolina Theatre of Durham will host its SplatterFlix Film Series from October 13-15.

SplatterFlix features eighteen horror films over a three-day weekend, spanning a wide variety of genres including slashers such as “Friday the 13th,” thrillers like “The Shining,” and sci-fi horrors like “The Fly” and “The Thing.”

The series also includes the world premiere of the indie horror-comedy “Reptchild,” directed by local North Carolina filmmaker Brockton McKinney.

“While this year’s SplatterFlix features many iconic horror films you won’t want to miss, don’t overlook some of the less recognizable films and sequels. These films have stellar technical craftsmanship, surprising practical effects, and twist-filled scripts to rival the classics,” says Jim Carl, Senior Director of Film at the Carolina Theatre.

SplatterFlix is part of the theater’s Retro Film Series, which hosts double-features of classic films most Friday nights and includes several sub-series of films like Retro Epics Film Series, featuring some of the most monumental movies in film history; Kaiju-Quest Film Series, a Japanese genre of film focused on big monsters; and NC Comicon: Bull City, which celebrates movies based on or inspired by classic comic books. More sub-series in the Retro Film Series can be found on the Carolina Theatre’s website.

SplatterFlix tickets are $12.00 and 10-passes can be purchased for $100 at the box office. The full series of SplatterFlix films can be found at carolinatheatre.org.
