Lizz Wright comes to the Carolina Theatre of Durham on March 14

DURHAM, NC — January 23, 2023 — Liz Wright comes to the Carolina Theatre of Durham on March 14, 2023. 

Tickets to see Lizz Wright in Durham are on sale at the Carolina Theatre box office and the venue’s website, www.carolinatheatre.org. 

Lizz Wright draws on her Southern heritage to craft a unique sound that incorporates jazz, folk, gospel, and R&B. She got her start as part of a Billie Holiday tribute and broke out on her own to produce multiple critically acclaimed albums. Her first two albums, “Salt” and “Dreaming Wide Awake” topped the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz chart when they were released, and her subsequent albums “The Orchard,” “Fellowship,” and “Freedom & Surrender” were positively received.  

On June 15, 2022, Lizz Wright launched an independent record company, Blues & Greens Records, with the release of “Holding Space,” a brilliant live album capturing a Berlin, Germany concert in 2018. Her mission for the label is to restore the basic humanity in the music business with wellness, and sustainable and sound business practices at the forefront.
