DURHAM, NC — November 3rd, 2021 —Kamara Thomas comes to the Carolina Theatre of Durham on November 13th at 11 am as part of the theater’s Family Saturday Series.
Kamara Thomas’ performance will be live at the Carolina Theatre and will also be livestreamed. Tickets are $5 and are available at the theater’s box office and at carolinatheatre.org. The first 50 patrons will receive free popcorn.
Kamara Thomas will perform original songs and covers that explore and illuminate the storytelling in songs. The audience will be invited to listen for the story in each song. Repertoire includes original songs from the storytelling work “Tularosa”, which explores the mythology of the American West through the eyes of women and people of color, as well as story-songs by well-known songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, Tracy Chapman, and more.
Kamara Thomas’ show is part of the Carolina Theatre of Durham’s Family Saturday Series, a family-based curated program for all ages. The series provides high quality, affordable arts experiences to introduce young audiences to the excitement of live performances, music, storytelling, and magic.
The Carolina Theatre of Durham requires all guests over the age of 12 to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours or full vaccination for entry. Additionally, all guests are required to wear a face mask at all times unless actively eating or drinking, regardless of vaccination status.
The Carolina Theatre has also implemented multiple safety measures including upgrading its air filtration systems to purify indoor air quality, adding enhanced cleaning methods and touchless payment options, and increasing the number of hand sanitizer stations around the building.
