    Performance Length: 60 Minutes

“Tales as Tall as the Sky” is the story of three children in their tree house at the end of the summer and complaining that they have nothing exciting to do. When one produces a book of American tall tales, they begin to explore the wild and adventurous stories of Pecos Bill, John Henry, and Hurricane Hallie, bringing to vibrant life this exciting literary genre. Designed to encourage interest in books and reading.

Curriculum Connections: Theater Arts, History, Communication, Analysis, Aesthetics, Language Arts, Contextual Relevancy and Critical Response

This performance has the option to add on a Durham Arts Council Creative Arts in Public and Private Schools Program (CAPS) workshop or residency.

“Story Quilt making with Handmade Art Objects” Workshop or Residency presented by Delaney Susi

Storytelling is not just for the stage. In this workshop or residency, Delaney Susi illustrates how visual art can tell a story with real-world examples and provides tools on how to create them yourself. Through colored pencil portraits and squares, students will create handmade story quilts illustrating stories they know.

Book this CAPS program by emailing efan@carolinatheatre.org.

All Durham Public Schools reservations will be made by the school-designated Arts Liaison. The Arts Liaison was appointed by each school principal to coordinate this effort. Please contact your principal for further action.
