A cavalcade of music stars will come to Durham for a once-in-a-lifetime event celebrating the life of the late Sugar Hill Records founder Barry Poss, who served on the board of trustees of Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc from 2015-2018.

This must-see, one-night only event will feature performances from fourteen-time Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist Jerry Douglas & many of his musical friends in the genres of bluegrass, country and roots music.

More artists will be announced as the show date draws closer.

Part of the proceeds from the November 5 event in Durham will benefit a fund dedicated to staging a recurring annual show in Barry’s honor. The yearly event will feature a rising musical artist performing at the Carolina Theatre and establish Barry’s legacy as a friend of the musical arts in the Triangle.

Music was a great passion of Barry Poss. In addition to his work cultivating and promoting bluegrass artists with Sugar Hill Records, Barry helped assemble the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) and was a founding board member of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.

Barry also served on the boards of PineCone-Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, MerleFest, the North Carolina Folklife Institute, the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke, and many other organizations.
