    Enjoy live music when Lynn Grissett (trumpet/sax) and Russell Favre (guitar) perform live From The Window of the Carolina Theatre of Durham’s Connie Moses Ballroom on Friday, October 2 during the venue’s takeout concessions hours. The artists will perform above and away from the concessions pick-up area and any guests.

    No tickets will be sold or admission charged for this performance. The artists will perform while guests arrive at the venue to pick up concessions orders, and for anyone else walking through downtown Durham during Downtown Durham Inc’s The Streetery hours (5-9:30 p.m.). This live performance starts at 5 p.m.

    About The Artist

    Formally educated professional musician, Lynn J. Grissett Jr. is a truly dedicated musician. He formed The Lynn Grissett Trio and Quartet in 2007 and was a regular at many of the local and statewide jazz venues. Lynn graduated from UNCG in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Performance (Concentration: Jazz Studies).
    Eager to expand his musical endeavors beyond the formal setting of a classroom and the occasional gig, Lynn enrolled in Graduate School at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) of Durham. While there Lynn had the incredible experience of studying music under the Tutelage of Branford Marsalis, Robert Trowers, Dr. Ira T. Wiggins, Mr. Brian Horton, and Baron Tymas. In 2011 Lynn was voted Best Jazz Soloist at the 50th Anniversary of the Villanova Jazz Festival. Lynn’s Master’s Degree in Music Performance (Jazz Studies) was obtained in 2012. Though his genre of preference and first love is jazz, Lynn studies, writes and performs all genres of music. In addition to the trumpet, Lynn proficiently plays saxophone. His dedication to his craft, has propelled him into the company of many reputable professional musicians and recording artists. Some of these artists include: Ellis Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Maceo Parker, Larry Graham, Nile Rodgers, Trombone Shorty, Marcus Anderson, Max Wienberg, the late Dewey Redman, Winard Harper, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Ledisi, Judith Hill, Cyrus Chestnut, Ocie Davis, Kobie Watkins, Terri Lynne Carrington, Liv Warfield, and Andy Allo .
    Most recently, Lynn has the distinct privilege of being a member of New Power Generation Hornz; the horn section of the band New Power Generation (NPG) formerly led by Prince.

    Guest Safety Information

    Guests and staff are required to follow the public health guidelines currently in place: wear face coverings, maintain a physical distance of six feet from other guests and staff and use hand sanitizer to avoid any potential contamination. If someone doesn’t feel well, they should stay home.

    Guests must follow all North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission (NC ABC) laws regarding alcohol. No alcohol can be consumed on the Carolina Theatre’s grounds.

    Carolina Theatre staff will monitor the guests in regard to compliance with existing public health recommendations. Anyone not following these recommendations will be asked to leave. If the area doesn’t seem safe, the performances will stop.
