Storytelling

Jubilee Home & DurhamCares Present

Better Together: Stories from Jubilee Home

  • Tue, February 6 at 7:00pm
  • RSVP TO ATTEND

Join Jubilee Home and DurhamCares for an evening of storytelling and togetherness as part of DurhamCares’ “Locked in Solidarity: With Freedom for Our People,” a week of awareness and action on mass incarceration. We believe in the power of storytelling for bringing neighbors together. Five speakers will each share a story from a person who has been involved with Jubilee Home and impacted by incarceration, with a host to guide the evening. We look forward to a night of connection and belonging.

    About Jubilee Home

Jubilee Home’s mission is to integrate folk into healthy community by providing supportive, transitional, and permanently affordable housing to justice-involved individuals. We imagine a world that does not demonize those impacted by an inequitable justice system. A world that seeks to heal trauma instead of compounding it. A world that recognizes that we belong to each other and can only find the fullness of ourselves in community with one another. Our values center the voices of those with lived experience as the experts who know the best pathways to justice and healing for themselves and their people. Our values center belonging as the transformational force that melts difference, demographics, and privilege into community. And our values uplift an understanding of a creator God that created each human with dignity and beauty, worthy of the goodness of this world.
