Across three chapters of childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, “Whistle Down Wind” follows Janie and Alex from childhood neighbors to the drunken teenage kiss that propels their friendship into a hidden love affair. As the conservative ideologies of their Appalachian hometown shape them, they are forced to confront the truth about their sexualities and the bitter future of their relationship.

Morgenlander was born and raised in Southwest Durham, and it was right here at OUTSOUTH (then NCGLFF) that they first publicly spoke about their queerness when the short version of this film screened.

Y’all, this is a homecoming and we’d love for you to celebrate the premiere of “Whistle Down Wind” with us.
