Andrew L. Stone’s STORMY WEATHER
(1943, 78 min)
Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, Lena Horne, and Cab Calloway lead an all-star ensemble as they shimmy and stomp through the rare Golden Age Hollywood musical to showcase Black pop stars of the day. Riffing on his own real-life career, Mister Bojangles is the twinkle-toed hoofer flashing back on his showbiz ascent, while Lena Horne channels her teenage Cotton Club travails as a glamorous singer, and Cab Calloway brings the house down with his sparkling theatrics.
