Stage Fright

Hitchcock returns to his native London for this twisted tale of theater, murder, and shifting loyalties. When a famous actress’s husband is murdered, her lover Jonathan (Richard Todd) becomes the prime suspect. Desperate to help him, aspiring actress Eve Gill (Jane Wyman) goes undercover as a maid to the glamorous Charlotte Inwood (Marlene Dietrich) to uncover the truth. In a world where everyone is playing a part, Eve quickly learns that the line between performance and reality is deadly. Dietrich steals every scene with her icy charisma and musical numbers, while Hitchcock plays with the very nature of storytelling. It’s a sophisticated, witty thriller where every costume change masks a secret and no one’s alibi is safe.
