Reality Bites

A touchstone for anyone stuck with more ideals than job prospects, this music-driven drama defined the Bohemian flair of Generation X. Documentary filmmaker Lelaina (Winona Ryder) and her friends flounder in Houston after college, navigating careers, HIV tests, and existential crises. The cult-favorite soundtrack captures the 90s spirit with raw energy and rebellious riffs from artists like Lisa Loeb, The Knack, and U2. As Lelaina is torn between a slick yuppie (Ben Stiller) and the soulful, brooding Troy (Ethan Hawke), the film explores the messy intersection of love and self-discovery. Packed with witty dialogue and iconic alternative tracks, it remains a bittersweet, defining moment for independent cinema enthusiasts.
