Black Christmas

“If this movie doesn’t make your skin crawl, it’s on too tight!” Long before Halloween or Friday the 13th, Bob Clark invented the slasher blueprint with this terrifying, high-concept holiday nightmare. During a snowy Christmas break, a group of sorority sisters—including Olivia Hussey and Margot Kidder—are stalked by a deranged stranger making obscene, bone-chilling phone calls from inside the house. The atmosphere is thick with 70s paranoia, gore that sprays when you least expect it, and a POV camera that makes the audience a silent accomplice to the madness. It’s a black-comedy horror whirlwind that remains one of the most effective and intelligent slashers ever filmed. If you think you’ve seen it all, think again—this Canadian cult classic will leave you looking over your shoulder all the way home.
