Ben Rector Brings His Inspiring Live Show to the Carolina Theatre on December 18 and 19

Fifteen years after beginning his career writing songs and touring in his Honda Accord on weekends, Ben Rector found himself back at the piano in March 2020. The result was “The Joy of Music,” a career-defining project inspired by life’s biggest questions, unexpected moments of stillness, and a renewed appreciation for the creative process.

The project includes a breathtaking short film featuring seven songs brought to life through stunning cinematography and a dreamlike world that explores Rector’s journey as an artist. Guided by Joy, a Muppet monster created with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, Rector confronts his fear of failure and rediscovers the joy that fuels his music.

With more than one billion streams across all platforms, Rector has become one of today’s most celebrated singer-songwriters.
