Carolina Theatre Launches Series ’26
April 6, 2015 by
With nearly a century–long history as Downtown Durham’s preeminent showplace for the performing arts, the Carolina Theatre is launching a new annual series unlike any the historic venue has ever programmed before: Series ’26. Referencing the year the theatre opened (1926), Series ’26 brings a parade of extraordinary artists to Durham for a host of ground-breaking shows scheduled for the venue’s 2015-16 season.
The impressive shows chosen for Series ’26 feature a wide-ranging mix of artistic disciplines: music, dance, opera, theatre and more (see below). From recognizable talents like Stewart Copeland, Chick Corea and Béla Fleck to the exceptional, but yet unknown, artists in the touring companies of the Dance Theatre of Harlem and Metropolitan Opera Rising Stars, Series ’26 offers remarkable performing arts programming sure to be embraced by the arts-loving audiences of the Triangle.
“This is a bigger commitment than we’ve ever made to a performing arts program,” Carolina Theatre President/CEO Bob Nocek said of Series ’26, which will debut with a performance from master musicians Corea and Fleck on October 4, 2015.
“It’s exciting, because we’ve found some truly unique options to make such a major statement about our commitment to the series.”
Tickets to all Series ’26 shows are on sale now at the Theatre Box Office and carolinatheatre.org. Please see the schedule below for a full list of show dates and descriptions.
