Jana Woehrle Headshot

Our Senior Director of Operations, Jana Woehrle is moving to Tennessee. Before her last day, we caught up with her to learn about her favorite memories after working at the theater for ten years.

CTD: Can you share a little about yourself and how you started working at the theater?

I had an internship in college with a music festival and decided that events were what I wanted to do my senior year in college. Since then, I’ve always worked in the event industry. After getting my MBA, I moved from Baltimore, Maryland to Durham, North Carolina to be a marketing manager at the Carolina Theatre! Over time, I fell into my most recent role as Senior Director of Operations.

CTD: What did you like most about your job?

Something I liked about my most recent position was that I was able to execute a positive experience for all the guests who came to the Carolina Theatre. My favorite part was working with everyone at the theater and the team I built in particular. Taking on the challenge of heading the Operations department, building a stellar team, and being successful in the process has been really rewarding. The 4.7 Google review rating for thousands of reviews doesn’t lie! It’s because of the hard work of the operations team and the rest of the theater staff.

CTD: What are some of your most memorable moments of being at the theater?

One of my most memorable moments was witnessing Trey Anastasio’s sound check when he came to the theater in 2018.

CTD: Are you a Phishhead?

Yes! I originally saw Phish at IT in Limestone, Maine. Best show of my life!

CTD: What is your favorite show or film you saw at the theater?

I didn’t get to see many shows at the Carolina Theatre, because I am on the clock while the talent is performing. I enjoyed working when Kevin Smith came to the theater.  He’s done four events at the theater while I was working here. Watching him with his fans really impressed me and made me admire him. He’s an example of how someone with that kind of fame can use their influence in a positive way for their fans.

CTD: How have things changed around the theater and in Durham since you started working here?

Over the last 10 years, a lot has changed. It’s amazing to see the place we are now since I started working here. We have great leadership with our CEO, he has implemented a lot of new things and ushered in a lot of updates and success.
