Celebrate Pride All Year Long in Durham, NC

June is National Pride Month, but the celebrations don’t stop there! As a diverse and inclusive place in the South, the city of Durham — home to the Carolina Theatre — embraces and uplifts the LGBTQ+ community year-round, through events and programming for all.

Durham, NC Pride Parade

Pride: Durham, NC is Durham’s official Pride celebration organized by the LGBTQ Center of Durham. The event takes place on the last Saturday in September. This year it will take place on September 23. The celebration features a parade; a festival with vendors, food trucks, and information booths; and a concert in central park. Visit the Carolina Theatre’s booth at the event.

 

Tegan and Sara

Tegan and Sara: Crybabay Tour 2023

Indie rock sister duo Tegan and Sara come to the Carolina Theatre on September 28. Their show partially benefits the Tegan and Sara Foundation, whose mission is to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ women and girls.

 

The Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween Ball


Every October, The Carolina Theatre’s Retro Film Series hosts screenings of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” a film beloved by many in the queer community. This year, the Halloween Ball takes place on October 26 & 27. The screenings feature a shadow cast, callbacks, a light show, and other FX. Costumes are welcome!

Carnival Cruiseline’s first openly gay comedian, Ashley Gavin comes to the Carolina Theatre on November 19, bringing her confidence, authenticity, and unrelenting energy to Fletcher Stage.

The Trocks: Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

The world’s foremost all-male comic ballet company, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo brings its internationally beloved troupe of dancers to the Carolina Theatre of Durham on April 11, 2024, as part of its landmark 50th anniversary season featuring gems from across the company’s groundbreaking repertoire.

Every Year, The Carolina Theatre of Durham produces OUTSOUTH Queer Film Festival, a glimpse of today’s LGBTQ+ life through feature films, shorts and documentaries from around the world. Save the date for OUTSOUTH 2024: August 8-15!
