Meet Pilar Rocha-Goldberg

March 27, 2024 by Sandy Lerebours

The Carolina Theatre’s annual Dancing With The Carolina Stars fundraiser takes place on May 21! Audience members will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite local stars and even get to mingle with them after the event. We spoke with local celebrity Pilar Rocha-Goldberg, President and CEO of El Centro Hispano, about her dance background and why it’s important to support the arts in Durham and the Carolina Theatre.

Why did you decide to get involved with the Carolina Theatre’s fundraiser, Dancing With The Carolina Stars?

I decided to be part of this event because I know how important it is to support our institutions and our friends. The Carolina Theater is very important for the community in the Triangle.

Why is it important to support the arts in Durham?

It is important to support the arts in Durham because it is a way to build community, to share culture, and to integrate the community. Finding a common ground, and what a better way than the arts.

How do you feel about performing on stage? What are you most excited about with this event?

I dance Latino folkloric dances as my passion. It is my therapy. It is the way I get the stress of work out and sharing with other people. Even though I dance, it is different dancing by myself on a stage…I feel nervous, but excited.

We cannot wait to see Pilar’s performance at Dancing With the Carolina Stars with her professional dance partner, Norberto “Betto” Herrera! The Carolina Theatre is thrilled to present your favorite local stars, artists, and dancers to share the magic of the stage and bring the Bull City community together. Get ready for one-of-a-kind performances by fellow Durhamites, delectable cuisine by Chef Paris, and some special surprises you won’t want to miss! Buy tickets on our website.
