Meet Adoptable Dogs at the Carolina Theatre of Durham

DURHAM, NC, March 12, 2025—The Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) has partnered with the Carolina Theatre of Durham to host a dog adoption event on April 12, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The event aims to raise awareness about APS of Durham’s mission to aid homeless and neglected pets in our community and inspire attendees to adopt a dog looking for a forever home.

The event will be held on the plaza in front of the Carolina Theatre, just minutes’ walk from downtown Durham shops, restaurants, and the Durham Farmers Market — open on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The adoption event will also take place during the Durham Symphony’s sold-out Family Saturday Series performance at the theater, aptly featuring the orchestral piece “The Carnival of the Animals.”

“We are proud to support APS of Durham’s mission to strengthen bonds between people and animals through community engagement,” said Randy McKay, President & CEO of the Carolina Theatre of Durham. “We hope this event will inspire people to open their hearts and homes to a new furry family member.”

Attendees will be able to meet a few adoptable dogs of a variety of ages and breeds, with the opportunity to adopt them onsite. Adoption fees for dogs and puppies range from $125-$175. Potential adopters must be 18 years or older with a valid ID. View adoptable dogs on the APS of Durham website.

Animal Protection Society of Durham is an independent nonprofit organization that is contracted to manage and operate the Durham County Animal Shelter — the only shelter in the county. The organization shelters and runs active foster and adoption programs to find a forever home for stray, surrendered, abandoned, abused and neglected animals. As part of their adoption program APS partners with local organizations throughout the Triangle to host “meet and greet” adoption events.
