DURHAM, NC — July 6, 2023— Kaiju-Quest Film Series returns with a new season at the Carolina Theatre of Durham. Kaiju-Quest runs on select Wednesdays, from July 12 through December 6.

The series will screen movies that belong to the kaiju genre, a type of Japanese film which features giant monsters attacking major cities and battling the military or other monsters. The six movies screened in the series feature aliens, dragons, dinosaurs, and of course the most iconic kaiju of all, Godzilla.

“Whether the story is set in distant prehistoric lands, the sixth-century British countryside, or a new millennium metropolis, all these thrilling, action-packed adventure films feature memorable monster designs and some of the greatest special effects wizardry in movie history,” says Jim Carl, Senior Director of Film at the Carolina Theatre.

The full series of Kaiju-Quest films can be found at carolinatheatre.org. Kaiju-Quest tickets are $10 per film.

Kaiju-Quest is part of the theater’s Retro Film Series, which hosts double-features of classic films most Friday nights and includes several sub-series of film including NC Comicon: Bull City, which celebrates movies based on or inspired by classic comic books; J-Horror Film Series, a Japanese horror based film series; and Splatterflix Film Series, a series featuring the goriest, scariest horror movies ever made. More sub-series in the Retro Film Series can be found on the Carolina Theatre’s website.
